Joovv vs Mito Red Light vs PlatinumLED (2026)

Joovv, Mito Red Light and PlatinumLED compared on verified prices, published wavelengths, lab-measured irradiance, FDA listing and warranty.

The short version

Of the three, only Mito Red Light publishes lab-measured irradiance, which makes it the easiest to judge on output. Joovv is the most polished and most expensive, but its product pages give no wavelengths in nm or irradiance. PlatinumLED lists the most wavelengths, but a 2024 conference test measured its BioMax 300 below its advertised irradiance. None of the three brands shows an FDA clearance for its panels.

"Class II" is accurate for all three in a narrow sense: panels listed as infrared heating lamps (ILY) are Class II devices that are exempt from FDA review (21 CFR 890.5500). It doesn't mean FDA cleared or approved them.

Output per dollar

Only Mito publishes enough to compare. At its lab-measured average of 38.2 mW/cm² at 6 inches, the $449 MitoPRO 300X reaches 9 J/cm² (about the per-session dose in a red light wrinkle trial) in about 4 minutes. Using its solar-meter figure of 130 mW/cm², you'd expect about 70 seconds, which shows why measurement method matters. We can't do the same sum for Joovv or PlatinumLED without published, measured figures.

Which to choose

Joovv: design, app and a modular system

Pick Joovv if you want the most polished hardware and app and expect to add panels over time, and you accept paying more without published output data. Read our full Joovv review.

Mito Red Light: the most output data for the money

Pick Mito if you want lab-measured output, the lowest prices of the three and a 60-day trial. Keep in mind that Mito paid for its own lab reports. Read our full Mito Red Light review.

PlatinumLED: the most wavelengths

Pick PlatinumLED if you want the widest wavelength range, including 480 nm blue and 1060 nm, and a 3-year warranty. Ask for its lab reports, given the 2024 test result. Read our full PlatinumLED BioMax review.

Before you buy any panel

We found no panel from these brands that is FDA-cleared for pain, recovery or wrinkles. The uses with the best home evidence, hair thinning and wrinkles, have cleared caps and masks instead. Our red light therapy guide grades the evidence by use and covers eye safety.

Other reviews: cheaper panels from Hooga and Bon Charge; the Kineon MOVE+ Pro for one joint; FDA-cleared hair devices from Kiierr, iRestore and Capillus; and FDA-cleared wrinkle masks from Omnilux and CurrentBody.
